Learn the ins and outs of fox hunting with the Glenmore Hunt. This clinic is a great way to introduce your horse to being ridden in a group situation simulating the hunt as well as an introduction to hounds. Suitable for adult and junior riders who can walk, trot and canter their horse with control, ideally in a group setting. This is the place to start for people who want to learn the basics of foxhunting. It is also a very good place to introduce a horse to the sights, sounds and dynamics of foxhunting. Those who have fox hunting experience can also polish up their hunting skills at the clinic. All participants will receive a complimentary cap certificate (a value of $60, & $50 respectively) good for one capping to put it all into practice!
Jumping is a part of foxhunting; however, you do not need to jump to foxhunt as typically jumps have a go-around in the field. Given that foxhunting does occur in “nature” your horse should be adept at stepping over logs, etc. on the trail.
There will be a short talk covering safety and etiquette after which riders can go out and learn to ride in groups and common field situations experienced during the hunt. All jumping is optional. Boots and hard hats are required! Any tack style and dress appropriate for this introductory clinic.
